Primary School Plays

This year our Primary school’s drama lessons revolved around animals, trees, giants, fairy tale characters and so much more. The children launched themselves into a world of imagination, discovering new characters, movements and allowing their voices and smiles to light up the stage.

This year’s school plays were a success just like every year. ‘The Selfish Giant’ by Oscar Wilde gifted the children with the teachings of generosity and kindness, just like ‘The Rainbow Fish’ who discovers how important friendship is as opposed to material possessions. ‘A Tree is…’ carried the children away into the world of nature, where they learned how important a tree can be for animals’ lives. Environmental awareness is an essential aspect of our world today. What if all the fairy tales’ characters we know about were victims of climate change? ‘Ivan’s Adventures’ taught the students about what can be done to preserve the environment thanks to Snow-white, Cinderella and many other characters. Sepulveda’s ‘The Story of a Seagull and the Chat who Taught it How to Fly’ offered the fifth graders the chance to grasp the concept of care and diversity, where a cat must take care of a baby seagull.

The theatre is a place where children can explore new scenarios, new places, new abilities, and where they learn how to give each other the chance to shine.
